Be Unapologetically Stylish

So today I wanted to talk about dressing unapologetically and what does it mean to you to dress unapologetically?

There’s been this running theme for me so far in 2022 that has to do with dressing for you, not being put into style stereotypes, breaking fashion rules with confidence and so I thought a great way to round this all off would be talking about being unapologetically stylish.

A lot of women I’ve talked to admire other women they’ll see out in the world who dress for themselves and take pride in their style. But I find they struggle embodying that same confidence.

We choose the outfit that we think is the right and safe choice, we choose what’ll make us blend into the background or we wear what others tell us based on the boxes they want to put us in.

Even for me as a stylist, dressing solely for me isn’t always easy and it’s been something I’ve been struggling with more lately.

I worry too much about how people are going to perceive my style, specifically the male gaze. Because for most of my life, I’ve had men try to dim my light. They would say dumb stuff like 'why is your style so extra? why do you dress up so much? why is your hair short?' Just dumb stuff that really starts to make you feel insecure and question your style and how you express yourself.

I’m just in a place now where I feel like life really is too short not to dress for you and do what you want to do when it comes to expressing yourself. Be more unapologetic in your style.

My number one tip to dressing unapologetic is to wear what feels true to who you are but also makes you feel confident. Dress how you want to feel that day.

Get up, look in your closet and choose whatever you want that’s going to emulate confidence for you.

Whether that’s sexy, powerful, classic, a little extra or over dressed. Pick an outfit that evokes that for you.

Dressing unapologetic doesn’t mean you have to look like you got dressed in the dark or that you’ve stepped too far out of your comfort zone.

What I mean by being unapologetic is simply blocking out the noise.

Whether that’s society telling you ‘you have to dress like a mom now’ ‘you’re a certain age now so you need to tone down who you are and how you express yourself’ or the noise of what will others say or think

Dressing for you and however you want to feel that day.

This is for my ladies working remote or business women who may be new moms or they’ve recently had a birthday and think they have to dress a certain way because society tells them to.

Don’t be afraid to dress confidently and unapologetically even if it’s just for zoom or yourself. Be the best dressed woman today and let that confidence radiate.

We all deserve to be seen and feel confident. Our clothes are an extension of who we are and so it’s important that we feel good in our style.

Fashion should never be that serious. It’s supposed to be fun and a time to play and express all the amazing parts of who you are that make you shine.

You have power in how you want to convey your image. Dress for you. Celebrate yourself in your style.
