SS21 Fashion & Color Trends
Happy Monday! During this LIVE want to briefly discuss the spring/summer 2021 fashion trends!
Spring is officially here! Back in the fall the four fashion capitols had pretty different fashion week set ups. Most were virtual and some were much more scaled back as far as audience goes. Looking at the shows, the pandemic and working from home has definitely had an effect on what the designers created. Many of these spring/summer trends embody an element of comfort and sportswear paired with easy silhouettes with modern and feminine touches.
Before we dive in, I’ll give you a quick introduction, I’m Emmaline Chappell and I’m a certified personal stylist. I have my own company called emmaline’s personal styling. I help busy women elevate their style by discovering a new way of dressing to look luxe for less.
So lets dive into the spring/summer 21 trends.
The first trend was bralettes. Many designs included bralettes styled in the looks. You could go flirty with a printed bralette and a high waisted denim skirt or you could super clean and contemporary with a solid bralette and matching colored maxi form fitting skirt with a blazer draped over.
The next trend is midriff flossing. What exactly is the trend you’re probably thinking; it’s a design where the fabric or cording crisscrossing and wrapping right around the midriff of the garment. This little details adds a touch of sensuality to any basic body con dress or skirt.
Next we have maxi dresses. So it wouldn’t be spring if one of the trends wasn’t a maxi dress. During fashion week, saw a lot of flowy, floor sweeping styles. Whether you’re working from home or running errands, perfect piece to add some easy, glamour to your everyday
Next trend is wide leg pants. Baggy, loose pant styles are very much in this season. You could do a wide leg jean or trouser. It’s up to you how much of flare you want to go for. Its super comfortable piece for this breezy weather.
Next trend is disco sequins. Even though it’s been awhile since we’ve been able to get fully dazzled up. Designers showed us many sparkly looks to get us inspired to just go all out this summer. You can easily dress sequins down like pairing a sequined skirt with a tshirt or a sequin blazer with sneakers.
One of the last trends is luxe hoodies. From what we saw on the runways this past fall, it looks like hoodies and sweats are here to stay from our days of working from home. Designers amped them up by how they styled these sportswear pieces. Try pairing a hoodie with a pleated skirt, utility jacket with a pair of trousers or a bomber jacket with a dress for an elevated contrasting look.
I also wanted to briefly share the color trends for this spring and summer. The range of 15 colors that pantone listed as this seasons color trends, reflect the main theme of the fashion trends which is that element of relaxation and comfort in combination with that joyful, mood boosting energy. Some of the colors include golden orange marigold, a powdery sand desert mist, a soothing green ash, rich raspberry sorbet, rust, French blue and my favorite, a bright, optimistic illuminating yellow. This seasons color trends really highlight that everyday, relaxed vibe while still providing us with that inventiveness and joyful spark of energy
Those were just some of the spring/summer21 trends. There’s also stripes, netting, cut out details, corsets, feel good prints, loose denim, basics with a twist. All of the trends are giving a great insight into how post-covid dressing will look like. Outfits that are comfortable, makes us feel joyful and have an elevated dressed up aesthetic.
