FB LIVE: How to Look Luxe for Less

1. During this live, I want to briefly discuss how to look luxe for less . Quick intro, I’m Emmaline and I’m a certified personal stylist. I have my own company called Emmaline's personal styling where I work 1:1 with professional, entrepreneurial women, helping them to visually represent their brand through their personal style. Essentially, I alleviate the stress when it comes to their wardrobe and create a more effortless approach to getting dressed.

So many times, clients ask me “how do I look expensive without a heavy price tag” “in order to have great style, I need to spend thousands on clothes and high end brands don’t I’ my answer surprises them when I say no . Today, going to give you my style tips on how to look luxe for less.

Tip 1: color, specifically a monochromatic color scheme where your outfit is all one similar shade, this will create a put together image without having to really try. Experiment, this can be any shade

Tip number 2: neutrals, since we’re on the topic of color, a neutral color palette is great way to look expensive. Anytime you add a neutral piece in your outfit, instantly makes you look more classy and class equals expensive. So keep in mind, neutrals doesn’t always mean your typical black, white or gray, it can be soft pinks, mints, yellows or dusky blues and purples

Tip number 3: fabric, so certain textiles like knit, cashmere, wool, faux leather, satin, silk or suede are a great choice when you want to look stylish and expensive. And if you’re shopping on a very tight budget and can’t afford to splurge on a piece that’s 100 percent this textile, try to find garments that visually mimic them, it’ll give you that same image you’re going for

Tip number 4: fit, this is one of the most important tips, an outfit that is fitting you impeccably and correctly truly is what will make you look lux head to toe because even an outfit that’s carrying the highest price tag will look bad if it’s not fitted to your body correctly. Ensuring great fit may include investing in a tailor which isn’t as pricey as you may think. Think of it this way, would you rather spend that extra dollar upfront on a tailor or buy poorly fitted clothes only to then shop for more clothes the next season because they didn’t fit well the first time? The benefit a tailor can provide you is priceless

Tip 5: pay attention to details, this may seem like a minor point but it packs a punch when utilized. When I say pay attention to the details of your outfit, I’m referring to things like matching the metals of the hardware. So matching the metals of your purse, belt, shoes or even your jewelry. Gold on gold, silver on silver. Also, making sure your garments don’t have lose threads or wrinkles or even paying attention to how expensive the buttons on your jacket or blouse look. Do the buttons look worn and cheap or do they have a luxe factor to them visually. All of these minor details will make your outfit look 10 times more put together

Tip number 6: don’t forget your beauty routine, along with making sure your wardrobe is on point using my tips, make sure you properly groom your hair, add a little makeup to finalize your look. A little blush, hint of mascara, splash of lip color, these are all perfect finishing touches to add polish and elevate your look

Those are my tips to looking stylish on a budget. Next time you’re getting dressed, try to put some of these tips into action, I guarantee you already have great pieces in your closet and once you follow these tips, you’ll look luxe without spending a dime.
