How to Shop Your Closet
So today, I wanted to talk all about shopping your closet. So if you’re waking up everyday right now saying oh my gosh I have a closet full of clothes but nothing to wear but I don’t want to go shopping, this is my number one tip to you. Shop your closet. It’s one of my favorite things to do when I’m bored with my closet. So I want to give you some easy tips to get you started on shopping your closet and I hope it becomes a practice you do more and more and fall in love with.
Shopping your closet is great because it forces you to get creative with your closet and truly play with your clothes. And I promise, every single time you do this, you’ll leave your in-home shopping session with a multitude of new looks and outfit combinations you didn’t even know existed.
Tip one is to give yourself time and the space to do it. Set aside some time even if it’s just an hour. Try to clean up your space where your closet is so that your environment has good, clean, open energy. Put on some music that makes you feel excited or joyful or makes you feel chill.
Tip two is to shop. This can be done in two ways, you can just dive right in and start creating new outfits using what you already have, just go all in. Or pick three pieces maybe these are three pieces you always wear and you only have one way of wearing them or you can really go bold and pick three pieces you never wear. The key here is to throw your inhibitions out the window. Try to really let yourself get creative and style these pieces in ways you haven’t before. Add accessories you wouldn’t normally think of, play with color more and pair colorful pieces together, see if you can tuck it a different way, tie it on your body to create a different shape, layer it with something or pair it with a piece that you normally deem to be only for special occasions. Just truly experimenting with your pieces and getting creative is the key to shopping your closet.
Tip three is get inspired so maybe you have your three pieces but you’re like girl I don’t know how to style them in new ways, that’s why I’m frustrated! No worries, you just need a little inspiration. Go on pinterest or Instagram or even on google and type in outfit ideas. So maybe one of your pieces is a dress, you’d type in dress outfit ideas, dress outfit inspiration or dress street style. This’ll give you lots of visual inspiration to help you see the different styling possibilities you have with this one piece and see if you can create some of what you’re seeing using your existing pieces.
The last tip is hire a stylist. I get it. Sometimes your battery is so drained that you truly don’t have the time or energy to do this on your own. This is where someone like me comes in.
